In 2008, our founder Sudhma Bhanot started Share A Smile Chicago to give her parents and other seniors an outlet to meet their peers, make friends and bring them out of isolation. With time many more members, SASC adopted Sukhdaham, a home for destitute seniors in New Delhi India. Today 12 years later, we are a multi chapter Non profit organization supporting many senior endeavors locally and globally.
What a surreal and unprecedented time this has been for all of us. We can all agree that 2020 has been a year like no other!
All along, we have been worried about the impact of the pandemic as it affects us all both personally and professionally. On a personal level, we are worried about the health and safety of our families and friends. But on a professional level, we are concerned about our organization and the heightened vulnerability of the many seniors we serve.
And through it all, we continue to send funds to Sukhdham, Meals on Wheels, My City My Hood, Rockford Veterans, Sankara Eye and the many other endeavors that we support.
On a positive note, all the volunteers at Share a Smile Chicago have been continuing their work and volunteering where we can.
Many of the seniors we serve, already isolated from their peers and families, are more vulnerable and lonelier than ever before. And they need our help and support more than ever now!
On behalf of the Share a Smile Chicago team, I humbly request all of you to please consider a small tax-deductible gift to help the many seniors we serve through this fraught time. And for $600 you can provide food, lodging, medical care to a senior at Sukhdham for a year through our Support a Senior program.
